Nathan Zamprogno. Independent Councillor for Hawkesbury City Council.
How to make your vote powerful. 1. Number multiple squares. Number multiple boxes above or below the line. Not both! Don't fall for advice that says just '1' above the line. 2. Vote early. Pre-poll starts September 7th at Richmond School of Arts and Windsor Library. I'll be at either all week. Say hi! 3. Start conversations. Challenge your friends and family about who is genuinely doing a good job on Council.
Vote Group H. 'H' for Hawkesbury!

The next Local Government elections will be held state-wide on Saturday 14th of September, including for Hawkesbury City Council.

I want to provide some information about how to make your vote stronger, regardless of whether you choose to vote for me and my team, or someone else.

You're not electing just a few people from one party or ticket, you’re electing a chamber of twelve. Hawkesbury Council does not have wards, so you will elect twelve Councillors to represent the whole city.

Don't fall for the 'One-and-done' shuffle some of the parties will offer you.

When you go to vote, you might be handed a "How To Vote" sheet by a canvasser.

The Liberal and Labor 'How To Vote' sheets at the last election directed people to number “1” above the line for them and then stop. They're likely to do the same again. I think this is cynical because they are recommending that you effectively throw away most of the power of your vote.

To be clear, putting just “1” above the line, or as few as six numbered squares below the line is a legal vote, but your vote “extinguishes” early and doesn’t go on to help elect any other candidates to fill the chamber of twelve. What a waste!

So how do you maximise your vote to elect the right people?

Voting above or below the line

First decide if you're going to vote above or below the line. Don't do both.

We recommend that you either number all ten squares above the line starting with GROUP 'H' (because there are ten groups of candidates standing), or number many more than six squares below the line.
Twenty would be a good number, and more would be better still.
This means that your vote can “skip over” candidates already elected or excluded in the count and help elect the people you want all the way down the ballot, instead of fizzling out.

If you like a party but perhaps don’t like one of their candidates, vote below the line and just avoid that candidate!

The recommendations of my team in GROUP 'H' are in the How To Vote included below because the people I list are the people we believe who will make the best chamber who can work together for you over the coming term.

But your preferences belong to you, so use them.

Vote early at a pre-poll location, or apply for a postal vote

One interesting trend is the increasing number of people who vote before polling day.
Pre-poll opens for one week starting Saturday September 7th.
The Pre-poll locations will be Windsor Library and at the Richmond School of Arts. The NSW Electoral Commission predicts that up to 36% of voters will vote early, up from 29% at the last Council election. No one polices whether you have a need to vote early.

You can apply for a postal vote through the Electoral Commission website.
There will be no absentee or online voting at this election, so if you're going to be out of the area you must make other arrangements.

I encourage all voters to vote early if they can, and I will be at one of those two pre-poll locations all week. Say hi!

Sincerely,
Nathan Zamprogno Signature

Meet the team
My team are passionate about the Hawkesbury and come from all around our beautiful district.

From a successful small business owner in Donna Pellew, an environmental scientist in Philip Price or a celebrated performer and creative in Jessica Dickinson, my team represents the best qualities the Hawkesbury has.

We as a team are asking for your support to continue the good work I have started to make our Council fair, open, competent and focused on the basics like roads and infrastructure. We want to challenge those who normally feel a loyalty to the 'major parties' and suggest that they're not getting the representation they deserve from either of them at this time.

No Party Politics. Just local issues. Vote for Group 'H'. 'H' For Hawkesbury!
